Complementary Dialogue

Embracing difference:

Where differences meet in conversation, contrast can create connection. Design is able to create shared spaces and encourage dialogue with the exchange of diverse ideas. I was motivated by the idea of democratic exchange being able to create connection through dialogue, rather than division. “Complimentary Dialogue” is a contemporary publication layout using strong visual impact to create storytelling through the interplay of warm and cool, demonstrating how complementary values can enhance and embrace each other.

The Hot:
With the attention to typographic discipline, each chapter voice their own tone in theme of its content. The publication layout represents both systematic forms to reinforce ideas of structure, unconventional typography as a tool for attitude in communication, elegance and decorative forms to emphasis refinement and readability, and celebrating women’s contributions within the field with female-design typefaces.

The Cold:
The visual effect of the publication embraces the bold contrast of orange and blue to create contemporary, high fashion visuals that challenges traditional and conventional editorial expectations. With the ambition to explore connection through contrast, the publication show how opposing elements can co-exist in dialogue. The interaction of hot and cold, the complementary of blue and orange. Differences meeting in conversation can create connection and balance.
